Little Giant

Reed City Public Library is home to this Little Giant quilt block. Little Giant is an old quilt block, not much seen in quilts, probably due to its difficulty to piece. It was so named to honor Stephen Douglas, a Civil War era orator and politician. It was chosen mostly for its visual appeal. You can see it a 829 S. Chestnut St. on the former St. Philip Neri School, which is the new home of the library. This block was part of a grant from Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs, through the Greater Grand Rapids Arts Council.
